Azure Ray’s “Somnus” Yao Returns to Dota 2 Professional Scene
Chinese player of the Azure Ray team, Lu “Somnus” Yao, is making a comeback to the professional Dota 2 scene, and his driving force is not money but the essence of competition. Somnus emphasizes that he could potentially earn much more from streaming, which confirms that he and his teammates at Azure Ray are not receiving salaries.
The player also states that his team doesn’t feel the pressure at the upcoming tournament in Bali since even if they win, they won’t accumulate enough points for a direct entry into The International. Therefore, Azure Ray aims to defeat as many teams from other regions as possible and avoid regrets, even if they face defeat at the tournament.
Previously, Somnus also assessed his team’s chances of participating in the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2023 Dota 2 championship. He believes that if his team outperforms all other Chinese teams at The Bali Major 2023, they will receive an invitation to this championship.
