Why do you need allies in Dota 2?

I play Dota 2 and have encountered the problem of not understanding why I need allies in the game. Sometimes it seems like I can handle it myself, but I often lose. I don’t understand the role allies play and how they can help me achieve victory. This hinders my development and enjoyment of the game.
