Rejin’s Comeback: Ban Reduced After a Three-Year Wait
The Backstory: What Went Down
Back in September 2020, ESIC slapped Rejin with a whopping 8 penalty points, meaning a lifetime ban from tournaments organized by their partners. And if you thought it couldn’t get any worse, you’re wrong. Valve followed suit and permanently banned him in early 2021.
The Appeal and the Game-Changing Decision
But Rejin didn’t give up. He filed an appeal in May 2023. After three years of battling the system, his efforts finally paid off. It was announced today that Valve has reduced his ban to just five of their tournaments.
What Does This Mean for Rejin?
Better news than expected: his penalty points were recalculated and reduced to five. He will now be able to participate in majors starting after PGL Copenhagen 2024. Now that’s what I call a second chance!
My Personal Take
This is a great example of why it’s crucial to never give up and to fight for justice until the end. Although there was a risk that Rejin would remain in the ‘black book’ of gaming, he managed to prove his point and re-enter the game. That’s pretty inspiring, isn’t it?
