Recently, a new mode called “Outbreak” was released in CoD Black Ops Cold War. This mode is designed for a team of four players, just like the standard game mode, but the players have different objectives. In this guide, we will try to understand what tasks players can undertake in the “Outbreak” mode.

Like all multiplayer modes in CoD, this mode has its own storyline. Nothing too complicated. The action takes place in the territory of the USSR, not far from the Ural Mountains. In this location, there is an element called the “Dark Aether,” and the goal of the “Requiem” soldiers is to locate this element and eliminate as many enemies as possible along the way.

Now, let’s break down the objectives players can take on in the Cold War Outbreak mode:

• “Defend”
  In “Defend,” players need to load a Dark Aether specimen into a special vehicle and hold their ground against waves of approaching zombies while the vehicle processes the information. A good choice is to use weapons suitable for close and medium distances. Players are also provided with special equipment and support items to effectively defend the vehicle from the advancing zombies.
• “Escort”
  In this mode, players will have to escort a certain vehicle that is moving towards a portal leading to the Dark Aether. This portal can be located anywhere on the map, and the players’ goal is to deliver the vehicle to a specified location while protecting it from zombies. The equipment for a successful mission looks the same as in “Defend.”
• “Retrieve”
  This mode is similar to the well-known “Capture the Flag” mode. Everyone remembers the game Left 4 Dead, where you had to carry gas canisters to the car, right? In this mode, you need to do something similar, but instead of gasoline, you carry boxes with Aether crystals. You need to take them to a safe location, not a car.Naturally, you can’t use weapons while carrying an Aether box, so you need cover. Also, when a player is carrying the box, their regular modification becomes more powerful, and when activated, it can knock down zombies. This is a useful feature if zombies manage to surround you.
• “Eliminate”
  In the “Eliminate” mode, there are more powerful enemies, marked on the map with a tag. Players must choose how to approach this mode: avoid these monsters for an extended period or eliminate them immediately.
• “Holdout”
  In “Holdout,” the goal for players is to get rid of an Aether crystal. To destroy this crystal, operatives need to enter the Dark Aether and defend themselves from zombies. They will keep coming until the timer runs out, and players will defend themselves in a building where they can board up windows.
