How does the experience system work in CS:GO 2025?
Do you know how the private rank experience distribution system works in CS:GO? How can you increase your weekly experience, and then what to do with it? Let’s take a look at this guide. This guide is a text copy of a video from my YouTube channel, so if you are too lazy to read, you can look at the video.
For every 5000 experience points gained, we get 1 rank level. There are 40 ranks in total, which are presented below:
When did the experience system appear in CS:GO?
After each game, depending on the rounds won or personal score, we get experience points in our game profile.
For every 5000 experience points gained, we get 1 rank level. There are 40 ranks in total, which are presented below:
After reaching level 40, you can exchange them for the current year’s service medal. Medals are one of the bonuses that can be obtained for earned experience.
What are the annual service medals?
Moreover, each of the medals has its own color, starting with white and ending with red. If you reach rank 40 for the second or more times in a year, the color of the medal also changes.
The only exception is the 2015 medal. This medal is the first one, most likely they did not yet know how they would develop this topic, and therefore there are only two colors.
The rarest are red-colored medals, and accounts that have such a medal are very expensive. To achieve such a medal, you need to play CS a lot, collecting any weekly experience.
Since the design of these medals changes every year, if you don’t get the right color in one year, you won’t be able to do it the next year, and you’ll have to start all over again with the next year’s medal.
Are item drops given out for leveling up?
If you raise another rank level in the same reporting week, you will not receive a new drop for raising the level. This weekly counter is reset on Wednesday mornings.
I talked about the system of dropping skins and cases in more detail in this video . If you haven’t watched it yet, be sure to check it out.
Accrual of experience points: to whom are they given?
Similarly, with the presence of Prime. Experience will be credited only to those players who have purchased Prime CS:GO. If not, then no experience will be awarded.
How is experience accrued in CS:GO in different modes?
Rounds are easy. This includes competitive games, as well as partner mode. The more rounds you win, the more points you get.
For example, in a competitive game, you tied with a score of 15:15. That is, there were 15 winning rounds. For each round won in competitive play, 30 experience points will be awarded.
We multiply 15 rounds won by 30 experience points and get 450 experience that you will receive after this match. Bonus experience is not considered, more about it later.
Personal match scores include: Normal, Deathmatch, War Games, and Danger Zone.
Here your personal score will be converted into round points and multiplied by a certain multiplier. Here are the multipliers for specific modes:
Consider the example of the «Fight to death» mode. In a 10-minute game of this mode, we made 59 kills, which were converted into 704 score points for this match. These points are multiplied by the multiplier for that type of game, i.e. 0.2. In total, we get the number of points that we should receive for this match, that is, 140 points.
This was the standard experience gain, without the weekly bonus, which is updated every Wednesday morning. With a bonus, everything is much more interesting.
Weekly bonus experience: how is it calculated?
For example, the same numbers of a competitive match. 15 rounds won and 450 experience points earned for them. Weekly experience is added to them, which simply multiplies our experience by 4. And as a result, we get 450 basic experience points, and 1350 bonus experience.
The same goes for the Deathmatch mode. Our 59 kills and 704 match scores translate into 140 points, which are multiplied by 4 for an additional 420 points.
In just a week, bonus experience with a x4 multiplier will be up to 4600 points received. Then, the multiplier becomes x2.
The math is the same, and we multiply the usual amount of points received by two.
With the x2 multiplier, we can bring our weekly experience to 7630 points.
Further, the bonus disappears completely and we get points without any multipliers, up to 11200 points.
After this amount of points received in one week, we begin to receive points by a reduced multiplier. It is 0.175.
All experience multipliers, just like drop skins, will be reset to zero on Wednesday morning, and we will again be able to get an increased number of points with the previously announced multipliers.
Bonus rank experience: what is it and how to get it
It was enough to complete weekly tasks, and for a certain number of completed tasks, this booster fell into our inventory. The external design of boosters varies from operation to operation, but they are the same in terms of functionality. One such booster gives 5000 experience points, or one full rank.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if you did not receive a skin drop this week, then using such a booster and getting a new rank, the skin will not drop for you. That is, to get a drop, you need to earn experience with the game, and not with such a booster.
Also, he does not eat up the bonus weekly experience, so you can use as many boosters as you like at a time without fear of losing the bonus weekly experience.
I will add that these boosters can only be obtained by completing tasks during the passage of the operation. That is, you can’t just transfer them from account to account, or buy them on the trading floor, at the moment.
Patrol in CS:GO: do they give experience for it?
For each correct verdict, you will receive additional experience. It is calculated as your overall verdict accuracy in recent cases multiplied by your investigator rating. But on average, about 400 experience is given for a correctly rendered verdict.
You can get experience by completing any match on the official servers. Experience will be given along with weekly and bonus experience.
What happens after getting level 40 rank?
The plate with the medal will hang until you click on it. After that, the experience of the rank will be reset to the first. Well, they will immediately give you a new one, or they will update the old medal, depending on whether you received it this year.
Conclusion
The rules for the distribution of experience in CS:GO are currently the same and so far there are no prerequisites for a new distribution system. I really hope that shed light on many questions in this topic.
