Call of Duty: New Warzone Maps Back to the 80s

The Call of Duty: Warzone’s Destruction of Veradnsk event has finally come to an end, introducing a brand new version of the game’s signature map called Verdansk ’84. Following the nuclear events of yesterday’s event, the modern version of Verdansk is no more. Players in the Warsaw area were confined to Renaissance Island for the entire evening after the explosion, and the night on Renaissance Island ended with Verdansk Destruction Part 2, an event in which players competed to run a Verdansk nuclear bomb shelter themselves. This led to a chronology shift in 1984, culminating in an entirely new iteration of Verdansk.

Verdansk ’84 is still the same city as its core, but a few changes have been made to the landscape and layout to keep it feeling fresh. The map features seven brand new locations, including a re-creation of the popular Black Ops “Summit” map near where the dam used to be, and five existing Verdansk locations whose layout has been significantly altered. Verdansk International Airport is one such location, currently operating in its 1984 heyday. The airport now has a fully explored interior and is away from its ruined state in modern Verdansk. The entire town has also been given a spring look, so the environment should look much brighter than the cold winter look of the old Verdansk.

This version of Verdansk completely replaces the old Verdansk, so players won’t be able to return to the city these days at all. Verdansk ’84 still shares the same skeleton as its modern counterpart, so there should still be plenty of familiar places for those who miss the old map.

There will also be a new limited-time mode in Warzone to help players get familiar with the new map. Hunt for Adler has challenges for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, as it has in the past for Outbreak and Haunting of Verdansk, rewarding players with free weapon amulets, calling cards, and more. Completing each mission will unlock a new skin for Adler, so if you have the time, it’s worth getting off your chest.

Call of Duty: Warzone is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
