Fans of the epic Half-Life series from Valve got a delightful surprise with the sudden appearance of the Half-Life 2: Remastered Collection on Steam. While not an official Valve release, it’s a fresh iteration of a fantastic mod.

The patch was initially launched back in 2015 by community member and modder Philip Victor. It proved to be quite impressive, earning its own dedicated page on Steam with Valve’s blessing. The remaster encompassed a complete overhaul of the lighting system, enhanced particle details and fog, numerous bug fixes, and even a quirky commentary mode—all without sacrificing the original aesthetic.

According to reporter Tyler McVicker, the project has received Valve’s approval—presumably because the mod has its own dedicated Steam page with an unchanged title. Currently, there’s no release date set for this project, and the page hasn’t been made public yet. So, eager fans will have to exercise some patience.
