Valve has officially announced Counter-Strike 2.
Main changes:
- New Source 2 engine
- New lighting and physics system
- Updated tickrate system
- Completely redone smoke grenade system
- Shooting disperses the smoke, and explosive grenades completely remove it
The release is planned for this summer.

Players are selected based on a number of factors that the Counter-Strike 2 development team considers important, including (but not limited to) recent time played on official Valve servers, trust factor, and Steam account status.
