Global price increase for EA Play and its consequences
Russian gamers have recently faced an unexpected and significant spike in the price of the Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The cost for a month’s subscription now hits the wallet harder, ranging from 800 to 900 rubles. The primary reason behind this steep price hike is the increase in the cost of the EA Play subscription, an integral part of the Game Pass Ultimate bundle.
Retailers highlight a direct correlation between the costs of Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play subscriptions. The catch is that the most cost-effective method of accessing this extensive game library involves converting subscriptions, with EA Play being a pivotal element.
The price of EA Play shot up on April 10th, causing a stir among gamers not just in Russia but internationally. For example, in Argentina, the annual subscription soared from 3,099 to 33,499 pesos. Such adjustments inevitably impacted the Russian market, where Game Pass Ultimate became significantly less accessible to the general audience.
