EA Motive had a Q&A session with players on Reddit about the Dead Space remake. They admitted that they started work on the project in 2020 right after the completion of work on Star Wars: Squadrons.

We started in September 2020. Most of our development team came in after “turning in” Star Wars: Squadrons, which came out around the same time!

Fans praised the team for producing such a quality remake in such a short amount of time. EA Motive emphasized that they carefully studied the entire Dead Space universe through games, comics, books and other media.
