PUBG Gets a New Name: PUBG – Battlegrounds.

Recently, KRAFTON, Inc. quietly changed the name of the game PUBG. The royal battle game now carries the additional title “Battlegrounds.” The studio made this adjustment without any formal announcements, leaving journalists from PC Gamer to be the first to notice.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds now sports this new moniker across platforms like Steam, consoles, and various online stores. SteamDB confirms that the name change was made on July 14, with major updates rolling out just recently. Representatives from KRAFTON indicate that this is part of a rebranding effort, suggesting that while the name has been tweaked, the essence of the game remains intact.

KRAFTON also has other offerings in the PUBG universe, including PUBG Mobile and PUBG: New State, set to launch soon. Meanwhile, the PC version has introduced a zombie mode where teams of four fend off waves of zombies. Among the recent updates, a collaboration with the Korean pop group BLACKPINK stands out. The event will introduce new cosmetic items into the game and adorn the map with decorations reflecting the group’s aesthetic.
